Soko

It's : a Singer

Hometown : Bordeaux, France. Now living in Los Angeles, CA since 2008.
Born in : 1986 as Stéphanie Sokolinski in Bordeaux to a polish family.
Started her music career in : 2007, when she achieved a hit single in Denmark with her song I'll Kill Her after the radio program The Black Boy Scouts began to promote it. The song was also a hit in Australia, Netherlands, Germany & Belgium. And featured in Stella McCartney's fashion show in Paris. While she's nominated for a César Award in 2010 after started her acting career in 2002


Catching Point : Her shooting voice bring a fresh air when she actually sings a folkrock. Most of her songs are sing in English and bear a rather cute/ironic/a lil'bit wild lyrics to her songs. She writes about her being totally vegan, wild, unpredictable and half of any kind :p As a live performer, she is unpredictable and never utilises a set list. She sometimes plays up to 3 hours by herself, in intimate and quiet venues.On January 19, 2009 Soko stated on her MySpace page that she was quitting music and is 'dead', writing that she was scared of the music industry and wanted to return to acting. In August of the same year, she declared that she was 'reborn' and writing songs such as "I'm So Ready To Be A Good Man" where she writes: "in my battle with the demons I just had to die coz they're way too evil and I couldn't fight". She later referred to the pressure of the music industry, before declaring that she was "having a new heart and being ready to be a new man".

Feist

Born in : Leslie Feist was born in 13 February 1976
Started Her Career at : age fifteen, Feist got her start in music when she founded, and was the lead vocalist for a Calgary punk band called Placebo (not that Placebo). At one concert she met Brendan Canning, whose band hHead performed immediately before hers, and with whom she joined in Broken Social Scene ten years later. Feist's solo debut album, Monarch (Lay Your Jewelled Head Down), was released in 1999. It is composed of 10 songs, including "Monarch" and "That's What I Say, It's Not What I Mean.

Catching Point : Feist has been noted both as a songwriter and as an innovative interpreter of other artists' songs. Her songs are featured in many advertisment as well as TV Series. Prior to the airing of an Apple iPod nano commercial featuring this song, The Reminder was selling at approximately 6,000 copies per week, and "1234" at 2,000 downloads per week. Writer Josh Tyrangiel called the song a “masterpiece,” praising Feist for singing it “with a mixture of wisdom and exuberance that's all her own". On 6 April 2008, Feist won a Juno Award for the single as "Single of the Year".

Catching Point : Every track is designed to be a warm breeze to counter the chill of daily life, whether you live in cold climes or not. It's melancholic music but there is always hope. some musical tales that open doors to other worlds with no specific destination or conclusion in mind. no a tale that start and end in the real world. Husky Rescue's music is like the first snow on the ground when you can still see the green grass through the snow. It's like spring's sunbeam after the long, dark, sunless winter time. Or a glints of paradise behind the dark cloud of modern life. So their music is quite representing their hometown Helsinki. If you ever watch Hyundai's "Think About It" advertisements, their single, "My World" was used there. and another one, "New Light of Tomorrow" was used in a P&O TV commercial.

Catching Point : SHE is a well-known actress with swings smoky voice once asked to do a soundtrack duet with HIM on a movie called The Go-Getters. Just right after, they found a unique interest among each other and built the band with Zooey's self-wroten songs and Ward's unique arrangements and virtuostic guitar playing. The pair originally collaborated via e-mail, with Ward working out of his Portland, Oregon studio and Deschanel in her Los Angeles, California home. At March, 18th 2008, Volume 1 was released. No doubt, the album mostly bears a bold taste upon vintage and oldies music but also fill with modern indiefolk ambience.
