Amelie [OST]

It's : a Soundtrack
Genre :
Classic/Instrument/Pop/French

When :  2001
Who :
Yann Tiersen; Michael Nyman

Catching Point : Released as Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain in France, director Jean-Pierre Jeunet chanced upon the largely accordion and piano driven music of Yann Tiersen while driving with his production assistant who put on a CD he hadn't heard before. Greatly impressed, he immediately bought Tiersen's entire catalogue and eventually commissioned him to compose pieces for the film, then he is also primarily considering composer Michael Nyman to score the film. Amelie is a likeable girl who develops an ambition to help others. The question is whether she is willing to face her own problems. The music of the soundtrack does much to enhance the movie, the mood moving on a spectrum between melancholy and carefree, but even the sadder emotions are tinged with a kind of Gallic acceptance, "C'est La Vie!". In the end, both The Movie & The Soundtrack are illuminating mix of magic and pragmatism.

Into The Wild [OST]

It's : a Soundtrack
Genre :
Indie-folk/Indie-rock

When : 2007
Who :
Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam's Lead Vocal)

Catching Point : The movie based on a true story about a disillusioned twenty-something named Christopher McCandless dropped out of society, hitched cross-country and perished in the Alaskan wilderness. Basically tells about free-spirit. Being free from all that boundaries, that buildings and rules under something called society. so the music tells about the same. Eddie speaks about being indie, tossing his weighty baritone onto earthy, folky tracks that temper the romance of absolute freedom with an eerie foreboding. Sometimes it all so gloomy but also very honest. "Into the Wild" is where this album gonna take us to. And Eddie Vedder is...well, Eddie Vedder :)
